the thing is, they don’t seem so dazzling when you actually meet them because they’re so down to earth. Like, they were legitimatel more thankful that we came to the show and stayed after to say hi than any of us were to get to meet them. They didn’t make a big deal about making sure security was there to make sure they weren’t trampled or anything - the only reason security was there was to make sure we stayed out of the way of cars in the parking lot and didn’t get killed. They talked to us like we were friends and not just fans that they were tolerating. And every time I finished talking to one of them I said “thank you so much” and every single time they said “Oh no thank YOU” etc and yeah.

So I met a bunch of people at APOCALYPTOUR. I still can’t believe it happened. Um, so, story time, I guess?

  • someone made Brian Holden talk to a friend in Chicago on the phone. I obviously only heard one side of the conversation, but Brian asked why they didn’t come to the show in Chicago and pointed out that there were two shows. Then he says, “Well, I guess you can watch videos on Tumblr or something.” He also just kind of hung out in one spot and let people come to him.
  • Brian Rosenthal just kind of hung out on the fringes right by where I was standing and let people find him as well. Not as many people went up to him, which made me kind of sad :( but he’s surprisingly soft spoken in person (which could have just been because he was tired) and he left earlier than the others.
  • Dylan walked right past me and I had to chase him down. Like, a whole three steps. Sighhhhh. But he apologized and thanked us for coming. He came out during Charlene’s set and looked me dead in the eye, which was really fucking weird and exciting and fhldbvgksdugvlskdguvksdu.
  • Jaime had a glittery mustache tattoo. My poor sister (in the pictures with me) complimented her on it and Jaime goes “What are you talking about?” and my sister was too tired to figure out that she was joking. Poor thing. She also complimented me on my outfit because I wore tribal-looking clothes to the APOCALYPTOUR.
  • Jim is really fucking tall. Like, I-didn’t-even-reach-his-shoulders tall. He was sweet, though. I complimented him on his Rumbleroar shirt (it was a lion but who cares?) and I can’t remember what, exactly, was said, but as my picture was being taken he just goes “Happinessssssss” all slow and Jim-like.
  • Joe Walker was, well, I think he had a drink or two before he came out. Either that or he had a cologne/aftershave/something that smelled like liquor. But he was really talkative and while I was waiting to see him he kissed a fan on the lips just because and yeah. He was also talking about how excited he and Brian Holden were when they found out they got to sing “To Be A Man” in HMB. He’s also never auditioned for a Starkid part. He was just told what he was playing and said okay. And hot damn does that man love to talk.
  • Joey was a sweetheart. When I asked him to sign my shirt he said “Why do we have brown shirts?” and then said that was misstep on their part (or something to that effect). Then between getting his autograph and the picture he got a text and just about died and replied to it while apologizing to us the entire time. Then right after us he had to go see someone off (I think is was his aunt and uncle? I may have heard wrong)
  • I broke rules to go see Julia. I stepped in the part of the parking lot where people DRIVE OH MY GOD STOP THE PRESSES. But she was so sweet and had to keep an eye over her shoulder the whole time to keep an eye on equipment and stuff. Because she’s a hard-working gal.
  • I’m 5’5” and Lauren barely reached my boobs. She is fucking tiny. The person that got a picture with her before me was actually shorter than her, though, and Lauren got all excited about that. She’s even prettier up close than in pictures and stuff.

The show was phenomenal. The merch ranges from $1 - $28. Charlene will draw on your bag (anything you want) if you buy one of her totes. All of the Starkids were so so soooo excited that fans stayed after to see them. They also all have to help load stuff up (I got to watch it - it’s almost as good as the show itself, and much more deadly). I didn’t get to meet everyone but I don’t care, I’d have been happy if I’d only met Megan Cox or Dave Scalia. If you want more details about the actual show, feel free to pop into my ask, but I won’t be posting any spoilers until the tour’s over.
